It's going to be your new favorite thing. There is no other habit that will benefit you more in your future. Plus, it's the ultimate escape from boredom. Pick up a book - it will literally transport you.
I just finished reading a book...
1st: click on "Reading Response Questions," pick a question that suits your novel and copy it. 2nd: click on "Reading Responses." Complete the Google Form, pasting in the question you selected & answering it in 2+ well-written paragraphs. You get credit for every book you read.
I don't know what to read next...
The links below will bring you to recommendations from last year's Dragons and similar novels to those you already love!
I don't have a new book to read...
1st: Try the San Jose Public Library and/or Sora Library card application, how to check out a book from Sora or SJPL. 2nd: Ask your parents and/or dig up those gift cards you haven't used yet. It's so nice to read a book you can keep.
My Classroom Library
The good news is I have over 700 books in my classroom library. The bad news is you guys are learning from home. If you don't have a book to read and cannot purchase your own or access the public library, complete this Google form. I'll figure out how to get you one. 💙
Please note: I can't provide personal book check out service to all of my 150 students. This makes me really sad. I loved doing this when we were in the classroom together. This year with remote learning plus extra meetings (you have no idea!), extra emails (you have no idea!), creating a system to quarantine books that have been checked out (that's got to happen) and creating all new lessons (I LOVE to do this) oh yeah, and actual teaching (the best!), there are just not enough hours in a day. Please trust me to get you a book, if you need one. I will so appreciate it if you get your own book, should you have a way to do so.
I'm working on listing some of the books my students have loved (as well as some of my favorites!) below. Check back for new titles.
